Vintage 12" 33rpm 3-LP Vinyl Record Set
Condition: Sealed in original shrinkwrap that is disturbed in places and is torn down the left edge BUT there is no way this album has ever been opened and I will warranty as such. The shrinkwrap is far too tight to the surface of the sleeve. Also this sleeve does not open at the edge -- it has a top opening tuck flap that is perfectly undisturbed. There are several shallow slashes through the shrinkwrap to the right of the cover photograph that do not seem to have sliced the sleeve itself. Original Sam Goody price stickers on back.
"In 1973, Pearl Records issued a three-LP set called The Art of the Savoyard featuring recordings of "true Savoyards" — that is, singers who had worked directly with Gilbert and/or Sullivan."
This album presents at least one recording by every artist who appeared at the Savoy Theatre under the direct supervision of Gilbert or Sullivan and who also made recordings in the early days of the gramophone. It is hoped that the presentation of so many performances thus reflecting the direct influence of the authors themselves will together suggest how the Gilbert and Sullivan operas were sung in the earliest days of their succeess.
It also includes George Baker reminiscing about Savoyards he worked with.
