Refestança: The Iconic Reunion of Rita Lee and Gilberto Gil

Relive the historic reunion of Rita Lee and Gilberto Gil with the Refestança show, a decade after their emblematic performance at the III Festival da Música Popular Brasileira in 1967. The festival, broadcast on TV Record across Brazil, brought together the tropicalist from Bahia and the rock icon from São Paulo's Mutantes for the first time in public. Ten years later, for a month between October 6 and November 5, 1977, accompanied by their respective groups - Tutti Frutti and the musicians from the Refavela show - the Refestança tour premiered in Goiânia (after the cancellation of the two nights planned for Brasília) and traveled through Natal, Fortaleza, Recife, Salvador, Vitória, São Paulo, and Rio.

A live album, released by Som Livre at the end of that year, captured memorable moments from this encounter. The setlist included the title track, a collaboration between Rita and Gil, along with Giló (a Mutantes homage to the tropicalist) and De Leve (their version of The Beatles' Get Back). Amidst hits from their individual careers, they also performed Caetano Veloso's Odara and the Roberto and Erasmo classic É Proibido Fumar.

This live recording is a testament to the enduring magic of Brazilian music, showcasing the synergy between two legendary artists and their bands. The Refestança album is a cherished piece of musical history, now available to transport you back to that unforgettable tour.
