Description

Powerful People is the second studio album of Canadian singer Gino Vannelli. The album was released in 1974, and was produced by Gino and his brother Joe Vannelli.  Herb Alpert (who produced Vannelli's first album) is credited as associate producer. One of the most striking attributes of this album is the tight, powerful mixing of the music, as it has a snap and sizzle to it that really makes one's stereo system stand out as it really pushes it to its limits.  No doubt this is one of the reasons Mobile Fidelity chose this album by this artist to place in its catalog.

Vannelli assembled a top notch band to record his second album. Powerful People is characterized by Joe Vannelli's first experiments with synthesizers and the use of session musicians. The funky "People Gotta Move" was Vannelli's first hit in the United States. The song reached #22 on Billboard Hot 100 and #21 in Canada. "Powerful People" reached #34 in Canada. The last track, "Poor Happy Jimmy", is a tribute to American singer Jim Croce, who died in an airplane accident a year earlier. The album was on the Canadian charts for 28 weeks between November 16, 1974 and August 14, 1976.

This is clearly his best albums made that much better by the fact that it was re-released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs using their famed Half-Speed Master process, which allows the maximum reproduction of the original master tape music.  MFSL carefully picked the best recorded music each year, choosing only popular music that was recorded with excellence giving you the most powerful music experience on your stereo music system.  What makes this sale offering particularly good is that this album is like- new, though opened it was never played to my knowledge.  I have two copies of this album and though I opened both albums (by accident) I only played one of them and placed the other in a box of new, unused albums.  It has a seal-able vinyl sleeve on it, so it has been kept pristine for its entire life.  However, since technically the album has been opened I can't sell it as "new."  But in my mind and inspecting it closely, it is as fresh and unaltered as the day it was sealed at the factory.  It is almost what one would call OLD NEW STOCK (ONS) stored in an air-conditioned environment, remaining in prestigious condition all these years.  You won’t find this music in a better presentation, in best possible shape, so don’t let this opportunity pass you by.
