For your consideration, we have Glen Sherley By Glen Sherley Mega M31-1006 Promo Johnny Cash RARE Rural Country for sale. This album is rated EXCELLENT. The cover is in EXCELLENT condition. This is a PROMO. We do not have a record washer and will let the new owner clean them. Look at the photos for more detail. We always try to grade conservatively.
Sherley was an inmate of Vacaville, California and sent a tape to Johnny Cash. In January 1968, Johnny Cash performed his famous concert at Folsom Prison in California, and among the songs he included was one by an inmate, Glen Sherley. That song, "Greystone Chapel," became a surprise hit from the LP, and Cash took a special interest in Sherley which culminated in the recording of this LP. The album was recorded live on January 30th, 1971 with five of Nashville's finest musicians: Chip Young, Jerry Carrigan, Lloyd Green, Bobby Thompson & Henry Strzelecki who held a rehearsal session to get familiar with the material before the show/recording. Includes a letter from Cash from January 28th as liner notes as well as a photo of the Man In Black.
