Description

Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie released their third studio album, Five, on their own Blokshok Records label in 1994. The band split up a couple of years later but and their backing vocalist and keyboard player, Shirley Manson, went on to huge success as the front person of Garbage. The album has a rougher edge to it than their two previous major label albums, partly due to Martin Metcalfe being inspired by grunge music and The Pixies. The songs that make up Five and the songs that were recorded for side-project Angelfish's debut album were written at the same time. The original plan for the record was to have Shirley Manson's vocals feature more prominently to give her better status in the band, but in the end only "Normal Boy" featured Manson's vocal prominently. Tracks are;

Hard

Bam Bam

Grip

Jim's Killer

Niagara

Touch the Bullseye

Day of Storms

Yelloueze

Bugdive

Normal Boy

Hands of the Receiver

Titanic

This is a white label test pressing of the LP issued to the band to hear the quality of the pressing before commencing with the commercial production. It is incredibly rare. The LP comes, as originally issued, in a plain white paper die cut sleeve and has the catalogue number BLOKLP002 on the run out groove.
