GRAPEFRUIT - 'TRYING TO MAKE IT TILL MONDAY'
1967/8 UK APPLE EMIDISC 7" ACETATE
**EXCEPTIONAL UNRELEASED TRACK**
It is well known that John Lennon was a big fan of Grapefruit and the group were one of the first to be signed to 'Apple Publishing'. Although they never released a record on Apple, they did cut some acetates for 'Apple Publishing', of which this is one such example.
This particular track was never released and was most probably from a batch of masters cut in late 1967/early 1968 with Terry Melcher for consideration as possible single releases. It is known that The Cowsills were considering recording a version of this track. A similar version of this song was recorded by Grapefruit for a BBC session but this also remains unreleased.
This 1-sided, 7" EMIDISC acetate contains a complete band performance of an excellent unreleased song: 'Trying To Make It Till Monday'.
The label features a handwritten title and the lead singer's name; 'G. Alexander', together with the offical 'Apple Publishing..' stamp.
The disc is housed in its original 'Advision Ltd' studios of Bond St, London cover.
DISC CONDITION Label: NEAR MINTVisual: VERY GOOD PLUS
The playing surface is clean & undamaged bearing just a few light surface marks but no scratches or any cracked/missing laquer.
100% flat on the turntable.
Audio: EXCELLENT
The sound is clean, clear & undistorted throughout, without any clicks or other major faults.
Apart some some minor surface noise on the run-in, there is no significant audible wear.
I have played this disc only once and have made no attempt to clean it.
