Description

"Back in the early 70's, there was a Live vinyl underground record made from tapes called "Ain't It Crazy", the name of which referred to the cut that started the first side of the record with "The Rub" and China Cat on the second side that is supposed to be this concert. I have the live cuts and it sounds like this is a close brother to the material. I'm not convinced it is that same material based on the way it jams out at the end of the china cat and runs into the I know you ryder. Other parts of it seem identical though. The cut that made it onto the record might even be pieces of the song from different jams and concerts of this time frame that were spliced together into a perfect compilation of what was played during this era. I have yet to find anything live that compares..

Any info for which concert that was or were used on that live collection would be Greatfully appreaicated." Found this comment on archive.org for GD 4-5-71 Manhattan Center, NYC. However, Morning Dew was not played at that show so it doesn't completely fit.

If this bootleg album was from before October 1971 when "Grateful Dead (Skullfuck)" was released, it makes sense that they didn't know the title of the song "Bertha" which they had only been playing since February, so they just guessed it from the lyrics. If I had to guess which show it was without actually hearing the album to compare, I would guess 4-25-71 Fillmore East. since they played all of those songs that night, or perhaps it's a compilation of performances from that 5-night run, since they played "the Rub" again on the 29th."

The above info from Reddit. Single disc, great condition.
