Grateful Dead Dicks Picks Volume Six 10-14-83 Hartford Civic Center 5Lp Boxset Brookvale Records 2015 numbered 1430/1500. This item is still sealed minus a tear in front shrink-wrap . It's been unplayed and unopened. Box is in mint shape. Remastered for vinyl from the original metal cassette source. 180 gram vinyl and printed inner sleeves. The early 1980s are often over shadowed by the late 80s'. Thanks goes to Dick for giving us prove of how magical the Dead were in 1983. Before the introduction of Midi into the sound and the explosion of Touch Of Grey the band was a true workingman's Dead. From the East Coast Fall Tour of 1983 we get a nice 10 song first set. Long for 1983 standards. Alabama Getaway>Greatest Story is a nice send off followed by a sweat They Love Each Other. Bobby's cowboy combo Mama Tired>Big River leans more towards psychedelia polka than country. Althea reminds us this space is getting hot. C.C. Rider was the blues choice in 1983 this is a nice version. Crowd favorite and one of Garcia's most played Tennessee Jed keeps the set bopping. Hell In A Bucket>Keep Your Day Job is a surreal combo of satire and tv theme song. Take a Break. Scarlet Begonias>Fire On The Mountain rarely disappoints and on this night The Dead reassure us that the X factor is near. Estimated Prophet chucks us along until the pounce which carries us to the uptempo bouncy Eyes Of The World. Drums haven't gone completely electronic yet and roll like thunder into what's title Spinach Jam a half ingested Spanish Jam giving way to The Other One Galluping notes shimmer into a delicate Stella Blue which seems autobiographical on this night. Sugar Magnolia brings all back to being a rock and roll dance party. U.S. Blues and hit the lights. Maybe you were there ? Maybe you had the bootleg ? Maybe you had this release on CD? Now you can be one of 1500 who have it on vinyl. Package will be insured and mailed first class.
