The Grateful Dead's second live album, released October 24, 1971. Although the eponymous album was published without a title, it is generally referred to as 'Skull and Roses' due to the iconic cover art by Alton Kelley. The band originally wanted to call the album 'Skull Fuck', but not surprisingly, Warner Brothers objected. The album became the first Dead record to be certified gold by the RIAA.
This is an early repress on a Burbank palm tree label with a small skull icon. "GOL" in runouts denotes a Goldisc Recording Products, Inc. pressing.
This version (Goldisc pressing on Burbank labels) has the full version of "Bertha", and not the fade-in that the green label version has (although both versions list a track time of 5:27 on the label).
First-runs are nice to have, but if you're looking for a 70s pressing, this is a good one to shoot for.
