Description
Great VG+ mono copy of the Roy Haynes Quartet’s sublime 1962 Out of the Afternoon, Impulse! A-23. Thoroughly enjoyable session with Haynes, Roland Kirk, Henry Grimes, and Tommy Flanagan. Has Impulse! orange and black labels but, unusually, Side A features “Am-Par” and Side B features “ABC-Paramount.” Van Gelder” stamped into the dead wax. Cleaned ultrasonically using Klaudio system.
Vinyl: VG+. Record looks and plays VG++ but there is a two-second skip at the very beginning of Side A. The LP plays beautifully otherwise without skips or jumps or pops and shows off the greatness of Van Gelder’s production. The grooves are glossy and clean. Labels are bright but have a slight ink smudge from previous owner.
Cover: VG+. Both front and back covers of the gatefold sleeve are lovely and glossy and structurally sound with the smallest bit of usual wear on bottom of spine. Interiors are clean and bright except for slight ink smudge (same pattern as on labels) from previous owner.
LP will come in protective Mobile Fidelity archive-quality sleeve. Cover will come in thick vinyl protective sleeve.
Packed expertly by professional shipping company and mailed within a day of receipt of payment via USPS Priority Mail with tracking number provided. Alternately, LP can be picked up for free locally in San Diego 92037 using safe methods (wearing masks and gloves).
