You are bidding on what is literally a *one of a kind* Guided By Voices item - it is the only one of its kind in existence. 

This is an acetate or test lacquer for the band's 7 inch I AM A SCIENTIST EP from 1994.  Before cutting a final master, the mastering engineer can cut a test lacquer.  This is even more rare than a test pressing which is a short print run on actual vinyl.  The acetate has the same four songs that are on the EP although the equalization is supposed to be somewhat different.  

The thick, heavy acetate is in VG+++ condition with a few light scuffs from being inserted and removed from the plain brown sleeve.   To my knowledge it has been played once, maybe twice. 

The winning bidder will also receive these 3 related items:

1)  an 8 1/2 x 11 color scan of Robert Pollard's original collage for the picture sleeve. 

2)  an 8 1/2 x 11 inch copy of Pollard's handwritten lyrics to three of the songs from the EP.  Above the lyrics Pollard has written a note to Robert Griffin (owner of Scat Records, the label that released the EP).  The note says:

"Robert,

Here are the lyrics to the 3 songs that will be on the 'Scientist E.P.  You have the lyrics to "I Am A Scientist".  

See ya, Bob                                                                                                                      

 (Call me when you get this package)"

3)  a standard 7 inch picture sleeve for the EP signed by Robert Griffin of Scat Records. 

I obtained the acetate and additional materials directly from Griffin a few years ago. 

In conclusion -  a truly unique collection of items - including the ORIGINAL ACETATE for what is arguably Pollard's signature song.   The four pieces together would make a great display piece.
