Though his name barely registers among most of the Krautrock intelligentsia, Schickert was both prolific in the back scenes as well as being an important artist. Along with the better-known Achim Reichel, Schickert pioneered the echo guitar, where the repeated guitar tones create unique multi-layered textures that take the instrument quite beyond the ordinary.
Schickert was active through much of the 1960s in the Berlin free-jazz scene, though it wasn't until 1974 that his first album, Samtvogel came out, self-released by Schickert in a small batch. The album was unique enough that it was quickly snatched up by the legendary Brain label, and they reissued the record the next year. Samtvogel is quite similar to Manuel Gottsching's similar solo-guitar album Inventions for Electric Guitar, where guitar sounds are layered and layered on top of each other to create new hypnotic textures.
CONDITION:
VINYL (play- & visually graded): Would be NEAR MINT minus, but for odd pressing marks that are not audible except in very quiet passages, and one small audible mark.
So, VG+(+).
COVER: VG+, bends, edge wear.

THE RECORD HAS BEEN CLEANED with a NITTY GRITTY record cleaning machine.
It is in a new, non-static, high-density plastic inner sleeve; the cover is protected with a clear plastic outer sleeve.
PROFESSIONAL PACKAGING: Record is removed from cover, inserted into the custom-made plastic outer sleeve along with the cover, then nestled in a protective two-layer bed of bubble wrap. Then it goes into a secure, crush-resistant new box. No split seams or mashed corners. (In the case of sealed records, we will not open them unless asked.)
