Keith "Keef" Hartley (8 April 1944 – 26 November 2011) was born in Preston, Lancashire, was an English drummer and bandleader. His career began as the replacement for Ringo Starr as drummer for Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. Subsequently he played and recorded with The Artwoods, and John Mayall. He then fronted his own eponymous band, known as the Keef Hartley Band or the Keef Hartley Big Band, and played at the Woodstock festival in 1969. The Keef Hartley (Big) Band, mixed elements of jazz, blues, and rock and roll.

Hartley has just very recently died on 26 November 2011, aged 67, at Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire.

This is a UK pressing (ZAL-8598-1W;ZAL-8599-1W) of "Halfbreed" which is the debut album by the Keef Hartley Band. It was recorded at Decca Studio No.1, West Hampstead on 7th, 9th, 10th, & 13th October and on 11th & 12th December 1968 and was released in 1969
