Handgjort (trans. "Handmade") recorded a legendary album in 1970 released by Silence Records. All covers were hand-painted by the band members. The music is moody underground folk with Eastern influences. The album sold very poorly and is a serious collector's item today. The original band members were: Marcus Brandelius aka Greg Fitzpatrick (esraj and vocals), Guy Öhrström (acoustic guitar), Stig Arne Karlsson (sitar), and Theo Greyerz (tablas). After over three years of preparation, Handgjort is reissued, released as a coproduction from Silence and Psykofon records. This is an exclusive replica, with hand-painted covers by the band members once again! The studio album was remastered from the master tapes without digitalization. The previously-unreleased bonus tracks were all recorded live at the festivals at Gärdet in 1970 and 1971. Strictly limited edition of 600 copies done with the full cooperation of the band. The package includes a booklet telling the complete, uncensored story of Handgjort, featuring unique photos and lots of reproductions of original Handgjort hand-painted covers.

ORIGINALLY Released in a hand-painted and hand-numbered cover: all covers were different. The initial release was made in 901 copies. In 1970 Greg and Silence had 901 records and covers pressed by Finnvox and 1100 inner sleeves were made by SIB-tryck. In September 1973 Silence repressed 226 copies in Stockholm at Grammoplast. The original matrices were used. 310 covers were printed by Waxholms Tryckeri. By August 1975 a total of 885 copies had been sold, the rest were distributed to the band and as promos to selected journalists.

For this exquisitely rare reissue, the original album was prepared using the original master tapes. The lacquers were engraved directly from the masters and thus ensuring that the vinyl is 100% analogue.

Bonus album was recorded live at Gärdesfesterna in August 1970 and June 1971.

All bonus material is previously unreleased.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)            The album comes with all four extras and inserts described above (hand painting, protective translucent paper slick and 16-page booklet; however, the A4 reproduction of the original press release is missing)

(c)             The records comes in their original, custom, inner sleeves, which are UNIQUE to this album.

(d)            The records are pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
