Description

HANNIBAL - self titled

A sparingly played and truly excellent condition copy of this UK 1st press prog gem with gleaming vinyl, lovely gatefold outer, and brilliant stereo sound quality throughout

Year/Label : 1970 UK B & C RECORDS Label number : CAS 1022 Matrix numbers :  CAS 1022 A - 1U, CAS 1022 B - 1U Stampers : 1 0  /  1 T
Excellent (EX) condition vinyl -  completely flat and displaying a beautiful jet black sheen. It is difficult to fault side 1 which appears to be unmarked even when viewed closely under a bright light; side 2 is impressive also but close inspection does reveal a few very light 2-3 cm concentric scuffs (each purely superficial) and a tiny squiggly hairline which straddles the very end of B2 and the very beginning of B3 and results in x3 very, very light clicks at the very beginning of "Winter" (a brilliant prog track by the way).   Excellent plus (EX+) condition labels : if you look very, very closely you may be able to detect just a couple of small and extremely faint spindle marks adjacent to the centre hole on each label - otherwise perfect. Clearly, this is a record that has been only very sparingly played.   Excellent minus (EX-) condition non-laminated E. J. Day outer gatefold sleeve.  All colours, art work, photos and text remain in crisp, vibrant condition and with great definition still. The interior of the gatefold is excellent with just a little vertical cardboard buckling adjacent to the spine. The only other blemishes (each minor) are some intermittent and very light scuffing on the top and bottom edges, the hint of some very mild ring wear towards the top and bottom edges on the reverse side, and just a couple of 1-2cm very, very light and non-obvious horizontal surface "crinkles" adjacent and perpendicular to the spine on each of the front and reverse sides. All edges remain firm as does the spine with all spine text remaining perfectly intact, the corners remain nicely defined right angles with minimal rubbing, the opening edges are firm with no fraying and there is no cardboard creasing or unwanted writing...very impressive and very hard to believe that this outer gatefold sleeve is 56 years of age!  Superb excellent plus (EX+) stereo audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, distortion or interference or background crackle. You may come across just one or two very random and very light clicks on side 1 (I could find no cause so am assuming a speck or two of dust caught in the grooves) and on side 2 there are the aforementioned x3 very light clicks at the very beginning of "Winter" - otherwise superb stereo sound quality throughout with great tone and each and every track a great listen. There is complete silence on both sides during the run-in's and run-off's which is always a sure sign that the record has been well cared for and only sparingly played.  Comes with original plain white "PATENT APPLIED FOR and "MADE IN ENGLAND" inner sleeve with no side splits or tears, just a little mild creasing and a few areas of very light age discolouration. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.   Rare and sought after 1970 UK 1st press prog gem - very hard to come by in such overall impressive condition as this.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £3.38 using Royal Mail tracked 48 (ebay's "simple delivery");

for continental Europe £12 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked,

and for the rest of the world £18 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
