Description
The name this project goes under is HAPSHASH AND THE COLOURED COAT, which intimates a collaboration with those inventive artists famed for advertising psychedelic bands in the late sixties - whose style is typified by this GLORIOUS (and frameable) cover artwork! This strange-and-wonderful musical excursion is purported to be a side-project by SPOOKY TOOTH who were later briefly known as THE ART (for one classic piece 'Supernatural Fairy Tales' on Island Records) coming after their beat period as The VIP'S. This 'feature band' also go under the name "Human Host And The Heavy Metal Kids" (a name later adopted by another, unrelated group) Whatever and who-ever, the album is very representative of the latter 60's in psych-y sound and hippy freaky beat, epitomised here by some Krshna Buddhist-type chantings and percussion. There's that paisley, oil-lamp and patchouli drenched style that suggested someone inhaled... and ingested! On the UK MINIT RECORDS lable MLS 40001 from 1967, the STEREO LP here is in respectable VG+ to VG++ condition, some marks and clearly has seen some use, but plays through fine. The cover is VG++ with some light scuff to the lamination, and a couple of creases here and there. Nothing too bad.
