Hard 2 Obtain's 'Ism and Blues' is a golden era gem from 1994 that blends jazz, funk and classic hip-hop motifs of the time into a sound that still gets head nodding. 'L.I. Groove' sets the tone with a Rakim sample and confident call-and-response flows from MCs Taste and DL, while 'Ghetto Diamond' layers horns over braggadocio rhymes and 'Heels Without Souls' fuses hip-hop with Vinia Mojica's smooth r&b vocals. Production from the Stimulated Dummies, Roc Raida and DJ Nastee provides rich, textured backdrops throughout for the bars to shine. A tight guest spot from the Artifacts & Raquel provides another high point and though rather slept-on at the time, the album shows H2O's skill and chemistry in spades.
