Description
HARMONICA BLUES: GREAT HARMONICA PERFORMANCES OF THE 1920s and ‘30s
Rare and excellent LP compiling 78rpm recordings. Worth picking up just for Freeman Stowers’ incredible “Railroad Blues,” but the rest of the album is great, too. Cover art by R. Crumb.Released by Yazoo Records, USA (Yazoo 1053); no year listed.
TRACKS: FREEMAN STOWERS: Railroad Blues; STATE STREET BOYS: Crazy About You; CARVER BOYS: Wang Wang Harmonica Blues; LEE BROWN: My Driving Wheel; ASHLEY AND FOSTER: Bay Rum Blues; ROBERT HILL: I’m Going to Write and Tell Mother; CHUCK DARLING: Blowin’ the Blues; Harmonica Rag; JAYBIRD COLEMAN: Man Trouble Blues; JAZZ GILLUM: I Want You By My Side; ALFRED LEWIS: Friday Moan Blues; CHICKEN WILSON AND SKEETER HINTON: House Snake Blues; BOBBY LEECAN AND ROBERT COOKSEY: Need More Blues; DE FORD BAILEY: Davidson County Blues. CONDITION: Cover is clipped at upper right. Small split at center of spine, with chipping elsewhere along spine. Otherwise, typical light to moderate wear, ringwear and discoloration. The disc is in excellent condition save for a couple of faint scuffs; it plays nicely, with no skips and little or no surface noise.NOTE: I will accept returns under certain conditions (e.g., if I make a mistake in describing the item).
U.S. SHIPPING INFO: I ship all records in a sturdy padded mailer via USPS media mail with delivery confirmation. This costs $4.00 for up to three records, and usually takes 3 to 10 days to arrive (note, however, that it can take longer). Priority mail or USPS overnight service is available on request. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING INFO: Airmail shipping for a single album is $7.50 to Canada, and $13.50 to everywhere else. (Albums that are especially heavy, or include booklets, may cost more.) I’m happy to combine shipping for multiple wins, based on actual package weight.I pack all records carefully, and shipped them in a very sturdy cardboard mailer with two protective inserts; these mailers cost me $1.50 each, and this amount is included in the price above.
