HARRY BECKETT Flare Up. Original UK LP on Philips 6308026 Stereo.
CONDITION SURVEY USING RECORD COLLECTOR DEFINITIONS:
CONDITION - LP - EXCELLENT - no visible marks. Some background crackle in places but sound is clear and clean
CONDITION - SLEEVE -EXCELLENT - laminated front and back - 3 tiny minor creases next to spine, slight bumping of 2 corners next to opening - name written in barely visible tiny neat writing on back cover next to words "flare up" (can't even be seen on attached image!)
Overall this is a very smart copy of this important record.
This was Beckett's first album and it's a complete cracker. Far superior to the albums which followed. The versions of Graham Collier's Go West, John Surman's Where Fortune Smiles and the leader's own Scarlet Mine are particularly outstanding. He's accompanied by the cream of english jazz musicians (Surman, Skidmore, Taylor, Osborne etc) on all tracks. All are on excellent form but it is Beckett himself and bassist Chris Lawrence who stand out for me.
