Extremely rare original Gate 5 LP by Harry Partch entitled "Water! Water!" (issue G). These Gate 5 lps are rare as hen's teeth and this is the first copy I've come across in 20 years of collecting. Comes with some unique inserts too! Two stamped postcards that are really old and have writing on them are inside...they are postmarked 1908 and 1912 and both are from Illinois. There is also a art depiction of some woman contained within the record too. The Gate 5 address label is handstamped and states the label is based in Champaign, Illinois. Also included is a big booklet with label and instrument notes as well as photos of the instruments.

I believe this is also the only Gate 5 record that a young Michael Ranta (associate of Takehisa Kosugi, Conny Plank, Mike Lewis, Hartmut Geerken, Jean Claude Eloy, etc) performs on.

Cover is VG+ with some minor wear...a small price sticker on front..some very light rippling of artwork by opening(where record slides out)..and some very slight ringwear/creases towards bottom of cover. Overall very presentable/solid shape with just minor issues.

Vinyl is conservatively graded between VG and VG+....there is a tiny non-audible scratch on track 1, side one. When held under bright light you can see some fingerprint marks. I have cleaned this record once on a nitty gritty machine. There is some faint/soft crackling evident in quieter sections and between tracks.... but overall it plays solid...no loud pops or anything nasty. So very acceptable playback condition unless you are looking for a perfectly quiet & mint Gate 5 record (good luck!). The occasional soft crackles are probably more due to pressing quality... similiar to a Sun Ra Saturn record perhaps.
