Released in 1970, on offer here is the very rare UK 1st pressing of the debut psych classic from HAWKWIND on the mega rare blue LIBERTY label These blue label pressings hardly ever turn up, extremely rare compared to the common as muck black label later pressings. Produced by Dick Taylor & the band themselves, this psych classic was only available for a matter of weeks before LIBERTY changed the color of its label to the now more common black label. Now before getting excited this unfortunately is not the best copy of this classic you will find, In fact this album is quite worn and the sound quality has deteriorated over the years, having been taken to many a good party. Though I must say not too noticeable on the loud tracks. On the positive side, it plays through without any sticks or jumps. The labels are showing spindle wear, (as you can see in the photo’s below) though they are free from any vandalism, names initials etc.
The gate fold cover printed by E J DAY looks clean on the front, and the lettering on the spine is clear and readable. The back of the cover, some half wit has written in pen the running times of each of the tracks.
Still if you are a big Hawk collector, you will know it is easy to pick up a cover, but finding a blue label these days is not easy if you do not want to pay an arm and a leg for a pristine copy, this would make a welcome addition or filler in any Hawk fans collection, and maybe its psychological, but a blue label looks a lot better on a turntable.

As a collector myself, I know how frustrating and disappointing it is to receive a tatty item which bears very little resemblance to the description given. I try hard to be as accurate as I can when grading, and use all sources available - including the 'Record Collector Grading System
Nor will I neglect to mention glaringly obvious vandalism such as writing on the label or sleeve. Which amazingly have been omitted from a lot of descriptions to purchases I have unfortunately gone on to make!
