Description
This is a vinyl copy of the classic, 1971 Psychedelic/Progressive Rock LP "IN SEARCH OF SPACE" by HAWKWIND. This is a very FIRST PRESSING (A-1U / B-2U) issue of their 2nd album on the distinctive & highly collectable Beige UNITED ARTISTS RECORDS label. This copy has the distinctive "fold-out" Gatefold Cover as well as the usually missing "LOG BOOK". Cat. no. UAG 29202. This copy is a UK pressing, having the "Manufactured In England" printed at the bottom of the label. This copy is in overall EXCELLENT condition.
DESCRIPTION IN DETAIL :
The outer, FOLD-OUT, matt card cover is in EXCELLENT+ condition overall. Virtually no rub/ring-wear, edge rubbing or, corner rub on this 38 year old cover; this cover is actually still really, really good, especially for it's age. The front highly colourful unlaminated surface is EXCELLENT+, having no noticeable rub lines on the matt surface.
The main spine is EXCELLENT ; perfectly, straight, flat & true with all Title Print easily readable ; no spinal dings or, corner rub letting it down. The "other" spine is also EXCELLENT.
The opening cutaway stepped edges are all EXCELLENT with bits missing, bent over or frayed.
The rear, matt, but shiny surface is EXCELLENT+, having everything in near perfect order, again, no ringwear or other marks evident.
The inside of the FOLD-OUT is just about PERFECT; no unsightly marks or, stains &, no names written on it. Loads of band photos, info & lyrics. I grade this Inside surface as EXCELLENT+.
The pale Beige or, Stone coloured UNITED ARTISTS record labels with Black print & Brown logos would be EXCELLENT+ if it weren't for the name "DENO" written on both sides ! Just this & the odd very minor spindle marks on them knock the grading down to EXCELLENT-.
The Black/White & Grey, Newspaper type LOG BOOK entitled "THE HAWKWIND LOG" is in EXCELLENT+/NEAR MINT condition. 24 pages, all intact & near perfect with the staples still in place; no rips, creases or stains. Can't fault it at all.
The vinyl is in similar condition to the cover; I grade it as overall EXCELLENT+. With just some very, very small surface marks (not visible in daylight) seen under strong artificial light. Certainly no major scratches or really serious or, deep marks. Test played today on my highly critical Linn Sondek LP12 ; Plays REALLY WELL with barely a click or, crackle; & just some surface noise between tracks & in the quieter passages (I get this even on Brand New vinyl).
