SLEEVE Both sides EXCELLENT with NO tears or writing
This demo record would have been in the very first batch pressed, this is indicated by the stamper codes "G1" on both sides of the vinyl. The record shows very little sign of ever having been played but the spindle hole has been roughly cut and the labels are both a bit frayed around the edge (please see the scans provided). Everything else is in excellent condition.
Background Info There are no official figures available but the generally accepted view is that around 250 to 500 demo copies were pressed for each Beatles Parlophone 45rpm release. These were distributed to DJs so that any new single could get some airplay and build up some advance sales before the official release date.
"Hello, Goodbye" was recorded during October and November 1967 and officially released on 24 November 1967. It was Number 1 in the UK charts for 7 weeks over the Christmas and New Year period. The single reversed a downward trend in Beatles singles sales and the unexpected demand led to EMI subcontracting Decca and Pye to press additional copies.
