Very rare original austrian album from avant-garde composer Helmut Eder presenting works from 1963-1973.
Some info on the release: Very rare original issue, released in Austria sometime in the 70's on the Preiser Records label (that released also Limpe Fuchs, Friedrich Gulda, Anestis Logothetis, Ernst Krenek, Barre Phillips and others). Serie Osterreichischer Musikrat. Eder was one of the first austrian composers to establish an electronic music studio in Austria back in 1959 and on this album one can listen to an example of his electronic experiments (Cadunt Umrae) with a textcollage & electronic tape. Also on the album his works "Sonatine Op. 34/1", "Septuagesima Instrumentalis" and "Nun Danket all und bringet ehr".
Helmut Eder was an Austrian composer. Eder studied until 1948 at the Linz Conservatory, later studying with Johann Nepomuk David in Stuttgart, Carl Orff in Munich, also with Heinrich Schiff and Fritz Lehmann. Returning to Linz, he became a teacher at the Linz Conservatory, accepting a position as full professor in 1962. He also conducted the Singakademie in Linz from 1953-60 and founded an electronic music studio in the city in 1959. He became professor of composition at the Salzburg Mozarteum in 1967. Eder composed in a wide variety of traditional genres, and also wrote scores for film, television, and radio.
A versatile and prolific composer, Helmut Eder has written in a wide range of genres and styles. In the late 1940's and early 1950's he was influenced by the neo-classicism of Paul Hindemith and Johann Nepomuk David. This was followed by a period of dodecaphonic composition that lasted into the 1960s. Later, he became preoccupied with Klangflächen music, writing works concerned with the depth and density of planes of sound. His openness to new techniques has been demonstrated by his electronic music experiments of 1959 and his television opera Der Kardinal. Among the most important austrian contemporary composers together with Dieter Kaufmann, Klaus Ager, Werner Pirchner, Kurt Schwertsik, Wilhelm Zobl, Otto M.Zykan, Herbert Brun.
Condition: Vinyl and cover lie in mint- condition. Vinyl looks super clean and plays perfectly, while cover lies in pristine shape, nearly new.
