Description: This is a very nice copy of the first LP released of the works of now well-known French sound poet Henri Chopin, issued in the UK in the early 1970's.
Additional Info: Phenomenal early record of three of Chopin's sound poems, which has been unavailable for quite some time. This record will appeal to sound poetry fans and non-fans alike, as the pieces here concentrate heavily on tonality and individual colors of vocal sound as opposed to speech, and much of the record's source material is barely identifiable as vocal sounds at all. "New Departure" is a colorful and linear montage of tones, that at times hums like sounds coming from an oscillator, while "La Peur" is filled with distorted heavy breath, throat and buzzing sounds which, when layered into this pastiche, have a distant and somewhat impressionistic quality. The side-long "Pluralite 1.1.1.1" is, like the first piece, an ever-morphing sonic landscape, filled with humming tones, ragged frequencies and silences. This may well be my favorite of Chopin's many records, and is highly recommended to any fan of experimental music.
