HERE WE HAVE A SUPERB!!! AND MASSIVELY RARE (especially in this condition!!!!) UK VIRGIN (V 2005), VERY FIRST PRESSING!!! OF HENRY COW'S DEBUT LP FROM 1973, "Leg End". THIS LP IS SERIOUSLY RARE AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AS THE ORIGINAL UK 1st PRESS WITH BLACK AND WHITE VIRGIN LABELS AND THE ORIGINAL FULLY LAMINATED SLEEVE!!! AND TO FIND ONE IN SUCH STUNNING, BARELY PLAYED CONDITION!!! - IMPOSSIBLY SCARCE!!!
THE FIRST ISSUE BLACK & WHITE VIRGIN LABELS HAVE THE FIRST PRESSING: A-2U / B-1U MATRIX (WITH THE VERY FIRST 1 / 1 MOTHER NUMBERS!!!!!!) AND THE ALBUM IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL FIRST ISSUE BEAUTIFULLY GLOSSY, DEEPLY LAMINATED SLEEVE!!!
ORIGINAL COPIES OF THIS LP ARE BECOMING INCREASINGLY SCARCE, AND TO FIND ONE IN SUCH SUPERB CONDITION IS VERY, VERY RARE!!!

Political astuteness aside, Henry Cow's Leg End is simply a busy musical trip, comprised of snaking rhythms, unorthodox time signatures, and incongruous waves of multiple instruments that actually culminate in some appealing yet complex progressive rock. Here, on the band's debut, both Fred Frith and woodwind man Geoff Leigh hold nothing back, creating eclectic, avant garde-styled jazz movements without any sense of direction, or so it may seem at first, but paying close attention to Henry Cow's musical wallowing results in some first-rate instrumental fusion, albeit a little too abstract at times. Through tracks like "Amygdala," "Teenbeat," and "The Tenth Chaffinch," it's simply creativity run amok, instilling the free-spiritedness of the late '60s into this, a 1974 album. The techniques are difficult to follow, but the stewing that emerges between the piano, guitar, flute, and percussion is so animated and colorful, it actually sounds pleasant as a whole. Chris Cutler lends his uncommitted, self-governing brand of drumming to the album to help culminate the frenzy, and Leigh's tenor flute does add some extraordinary musical fabric to each of the album's ten cuts. "Nine Funerals of the Citizen King" is one of the easiest pieces to listen to, while the short but amiable "Bellycan" is an excerpt removed from the group's work with the Greasy Truckers, performed a year earlier. In 1974, Henry Cow released Unrest, which contains the same vigor and spontaneity as Leg End, only it didn't receive the same amount of attention. Shortly after, they united with Dagmar Krause and the rest of Slapp Happy to further their unconventional route.

LABELS: The 1st 'Black & White Virgin' labels are in SUPERB condition with NO wear, NO writing and only a few very, VERY light spindle traces!!!! THIS LP HAS HARDLY EVER BEEN PLAYED!!
VINYL Visual: The record lies perfectly flat on the turntable and both surfaces have their original DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN. There are a couple of light hairlines but NOTHING of ANY major audio consequence WHATSOEVER!!!
VINYL Audio: SUPERB!! - CRYSTAL CLEAR, SHARP, STRONG and VIBRANT!!!!! There are NO scratches, barely ANY clicks/pops (hardly ANY really!!), NO jumps, NO sticks, and NO surface noise AT ALL!!  (the run ins and quiet passages, and there are a lot of very quiet passages, are as quiet as vinyl can possibly be!!) - truly awesome and very, VERY rare, ESPECIALLY FOR AN ORIGINAL PRESSING!! The sound quality is simply SUPERB with NO groovewear and NO distortion!!!! This copy has NOT been overplayed, in fact I would say it has hardy EVER been played AT ALL!! This must be graded EXCELLENT+ for audio!!!! A BEAUTIFUL COPY - IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND LIKE THIS ANYMORE!!! This record is NOT overgraded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards!!!
SLEEVE: The original 1st issue DEEPLY GLOSSY laminated cover is SUPERB!! CRISP, CLEAN and FRESH. Almost LIKE-NEW - AMAZING!!! There is virtually NO edge/corner wear to speak of!!!!! and the spine is straight and true with ALL text SHARP and CLEAR!! The laminate has a BEAUTIFUL DEEP GLOSSY SHEEN!!!! A really BEAUTIFUL sleeve!!!!
