Artist: HERB ELLIS
Title: “HERB ELLIS MEETS JIMMY GIUFFRE”
Label: VERVE. Label is flat black with David Stone Martin “trumpet player” logo. Monaural pressing on medium thick vinyl, with deep groove. Catalog number is V-8311.
Year: 1959.
Personnel: Herb Ellis – guitar; Bud Shank – alto sax; Art Pepper – alto sax; Richie Kamuca – tenor sax; Jimmy Giuffre – tenor sax; Jim Hall – thythm guitar; Joe Mondragon – bass; Stan Levey – drums; Lou Levy – piano.
Note: This album comes from an extremely well cared-for jazz collection where the original owner cherished his albums, played them once or twice at most, and stored them under optimal conditions. These are some excellent opportunities for the discriminating collector who insists on top condition.
Condition:
DISC: Vinyl is gorgeous NEAR MINT, has been played a very small number of times, most likely once or twice, and handled with care. Plays flawlessly with superb fidelity. Labels are clean and pristine.
JACKET: Jacket is nice VG+ to VG++. Front is beginning to show a bit of ring wear, and there is some minor wear on the top seam, including a very small start of a split at top right corner. Reverse is beginning to show minor ring wear as well. No writing, stickers, cutout indications, or other flaws. Overall a very presentable jacket to accompany the lovely disc.
