For auction is HERBIE HANCOCK's "Empyrean Isles," on Blue Note BLP 4175, MONO, RVG, EAR, 1964. 1st Press. With Freddie Hubbard, Ron Carter, Anthony Williams.

SOUND: VG+/NM

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. I was absolutely delighted with the playback! Powerful, and very clean sound! There was 1 tic on side B. Also, during the very quiet passages (of which there are many) you may be able to pick up soft intermittent background noise... if you strain to hear it. You will not be disappointed with this playback!

VINYL: VG+ or better

There are a few faint scuffs or hairline marks either side. All appear entirely superficial. The dead wax is stamped "Van Gelder" on both sides, and the Plastylite "Ear" is etched on both sides. No deep grooves on this record. The labels are beautiful and clean, with a few faint spindle marks.

JACKET: VG+

The edges and spine are solid all around, with very minor routine wear. The corners are good, also with routine wear. The two righthand corners are a little bumped. The front cover is clean and in very nice condition, with a 4-inch wrinkle center left-in (see pics.) There is a catalogue sticker upper left corner. The back cover is very clean, with minor, routine aging. There is a "review" stamp top center.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability. 

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.  

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction.
