HERBIE HANCOCK "Inventions & Dimensions"  Blue Note 4147, "P", "DG," Van Gelder, Mono Vinyl

This is the 1964, first-pressing, Deep-Groove, "Van Gelder" stamped, "P"-pressing of HERBIE HANCOCK's "Inventions & Dimensions" on the New York USA labels of Blue Note BLP 4147.  Musicians include Herbie Hancock, Paul Chambers, Willie Bobo, Osvaldo "Chihuahua" Martinez.

 

This Blue Note original VINYL has consistent low-level surface noise and occasional pops and ticks. But the music is very strong, dynamic, clear, pure and rich in tone. Bass is very strong. Record plays nicely. No skips. No warps. No locked grooves. No distortion. The imperfections are beneath the music. Both sides have excellent gloss. Many hairline non-feelable marks. The Deep Groove New York USA labels are practically perfect. As with all Lexington Ave to New York USA Blue Note pressings, imperfections do not detract from this powerfully recorded and pressed vinyl.

  

COVER is in good shape; both top and bottom seams are taped, see photos. Spine is very good condition, please see photos. The "43 West 63rd St., New York 23" back jacket is in very good condition, minor aging, "D" stamp, lower seam wrinkled, top seam taped.


    

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
