Description
Up for auction is a nice copy of the "Herbie Harper Sextet" aka "6" album released on Mode Records (MOD-LP 100) in 1957. This is an original, mono, deep groove pressing, not a cheap reissue. Original blue ink back cover. Cover is in really nice shape, retaining its original high gloss laminate finish, no ring wear to speak of. Beautiful artwork. Seams generally tight and clean, though right hand bottom seam near opening is beginning to separate a little bit. A couple of the corners are slightly bumped. Back cover is clean, no writing, no ring wear or losses. Shows a small amount of aging along left seam. Still, overall, a very attractive cover. I'd grade it EX+ (Excellent Plus). The vinyl is also nice and shiny, retaining its original glossy luster. No obvious scratches or scuffs. Some superficial signs of having been taken out of paper inner sleeve a number of times. Looks as if it has been handled previously with great care. I have play tested this record, and overall it plays very nicely. However, Side One opens with some low level surface noise that comes in and out, but never overwhelms the music. A few low clicks here and there. Side Two plays quieter, but also has some low level surface noise here and there. Still a very enjoyable listening experience. I'd grade the vinyl EX+ (Excellent Plus) visually, and EX- (Excellent Minus) audibly. Not audiophile clean, but nonetheless a nice playing and presentable original mono copy.
