Description
TEST PRESSING of the FIRST R&B 45!
ARTHUR "BIG BOY" CRUDUP: That's All Right/Crudup's After Hours (RCA #50-0000 TEST PRESSING, 1948):
CLEAN M- GEM 45 looks barely played.
Truly historic 45! When RCA, inventor of the 45RPM record, issued their inaugural singles in 1948, #50-0000 was the first R&B 45. As if that's not awesome enuff, this is a ridiculously-rare TEST PRESSING authenticated by machine-stamped RCA matrix numbers.
Contact me if you've ever seen this test pressing before!
Arthur Crudup's That's All Right has been cited as the first rock 'n' roll song (& is sometimes credited as having the first guitar break), but it's most often remembered for being the tune on the A-side of Elvis' first Sun single in 1954.
To paraphrase Indy: this 45 belongs in a museum.
