Up for auction is METROPOLITAN OPERA HISTORIC BROADCAST of Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly recorded January 19, 1946. It is SEALED in its orginal wraping and of course has never been played. It's contents I have learned about through research, you will find that it is a rare find. This is a must for collectors.
This performance of Madama Butterfly includes James Melton, Alessio De Paolis, Lucielle Browning, John Brownlee, Licia Albanese (as Cio-Cio-San), John Baker, Osie Hawkins, George Cehanovsky, Maxine Stellman. Conducted by Pietro Cimara.
Historic broadcast recordings are recodings of live radio broadcasts of the opera. They are produced in very limited quanitites and are not available for sale commercially. These collector's items are beautifully boxed and include a Libretto and commemorative book with photogrpahs.
This set is in GREAT CONDITION! It includes 3 LP records in their original sleeves that have never been played, Libretto with original text and English translation, a beautiful book with photos and descriptions. All of this comes in a beautiful red felt case with gold lettering.
There is some fading due to the sunlight on the felt box, but otherwise it is in GREAT shape.
