Description
UK HMV LP, a 1N/1N first pressing of ALP 1479, Ginette Neveu’s sublime renditions of Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D minor, Op.47, and Suk’s Four Pieces, Op.17.
Fully laminated flipback sleeve has just a few very small edge creases, a tiny amount of corner wear, a little laminate lift to opening edge, with a couple of small areas of loss, and some light ringwear, with some small age foxing spots and light browning to the front and back, but these are all minor points on a structurally excellent sleeve with glossy, clean laminate and very little storage rubbing; there is also a UK tax code stamp on the back. It is, overall, a super, well-kept example of a vintage HMV sleeve, and the overall grade is certainly EX, if not slightly better.
Vinyl is superbly glossy, with a very clean surface; to be absolutely clear, I have not cleaned this record, but have removed dust with an anti-static brush before playing. Record is flat, no warp, and there is just one tiny spindle mark on the label on side 1.
Side 1 has a couple of extremely light hairlines which appear not to have any adverse effect on audio, which is full and strong throughout. Visual grade overall for the record is EX+. Playing quality is very strong indeed, a little light crackle at the start of each side, which soon dissipates, and a couple of moments of background surface crackle, with the inevitable light dust click elsewhere. Always strong audio varies from Excellent to Excellent+, and the overall grade for vinyl is EX.
