Ever been late to a party ? That might be an appropriate analogy for Baltimore's Hollins Ferry. Listening to this set of glistening pop-rock, you get the feeling that if it had been released a couple of years earlier, rather than in the midst of disco, punk, and new wave madness, it might have been huge. A nice discovery from 1977. "Take My Love," "Downtown Menagerie," "Too Bad About Sorrows," and "The Journey" each have an effortless, Beatlesque charm. "Take My Love," in particular, is a beautifully crafted song that will stick in your head for days. Hollins Ferry have a lot going for them with an organic pre-new wave power pop sound and some obvious Beatles/Kinks influence.
