Holy Mackerel – Holy Mackerel (12” LP)Holy Mackerel was a British 1970s rock band from Kent that formed from the ashes of UK psych legends Jason Crest plus members of cult rockers Samuel Prody and Orang Utan. The quintet coalesced in 1972, and having honed their material in the North of England, they became an immediate success on the live circuit and were soon offered the chance to make an LP. Issued at the end of the year, it drew on prog, country, pop and rock influences but failed to connect commercially though it is recognised as a lost classic today.

The album is on CBS Records, S 65297. Matrix side one: S 65297 A1 (stamped). Matrix side two: S 65297 B1 (stamped).
Released in 1972. UK pressing. Stereo.

Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system)
Vinyl side 1: excellent (has a small superficial mark in the middle of track one that does not affect the audio in any way, plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Vinyl side 2: excellent (has the odd light superficial mark that does not affect the audio in any way, plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Cover (glossy): very good (has the odd very light crease, a few light mark here and there, light rubbing).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a
complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy on return of the record.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler. 1706 (GS 9.9 (1706))
