Description
This is a SEALED U.S. pressing copy of the second LP by folk music's merry pranksters the Holy Modal Rounders, released in 1965. In their initial incarnation, the group was the acoustic folk duo of Pete Stampfel and Steve Weber, who played mostly traditional songs with an absurdist sensibility, from their performances to their improvised lyrics (notably Stampfel's insertion of the word "psychedelic" in the old chestnut "Hesitation Blues" on their debut) to their very choice or material (viz. this record's opening track, "Flop Eared Mule"). After the release of their second LP, they joined the Fugs for a spell. The jacket of this copy does have a saw mark near one corner, and the shrink wrap has split around it (see photo). NB: The record was reissued after Fantasy purchased Prestige in the 1970s with identical cover art. Since this copy is sealed, I cannot of course check the disc labels. The jacket's thick cardboard suggests that this is from the 1965 pressing.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
