Go West (RCA Victor LPM 2674)
Henry "Homer" Haynes, guitar and Kenneth "Jethro" Burns, mandolin had many novelty country hits from 1949 until their Beatles' parody "I Want To Hold Your Hand" in 1964. Forming in 1932, their career as humorous country stars really caught fire after they signed with RCA in 1949. Their 1949 parody of Baby It's Cold Outside with June Carter on vocals reached #9 on the Billboard C&W chart. Although they were comedians first, what distinguished them from the pack was their musical talent. Both were excellent musicians and their song parodies contained more barbs and satire as they went along - leading to the moniker "the thinking man's hillbillies". They were inducted into the Country And Western Hall Of Fame in 2001.
This 1964 LP find the duo in fine form with their send-ups of well-known Western numbers such as "Streets of Laredo" (Streets Of Weehawken) and "Oh Susannah" (Oh Top Forty, a hilarious song about having a hit record). The fun front cover is illustrated by Jack Davis, famous for his drawings for Mad Magazine and other publications

CONDITION:
The cover is in VG+ condition with a little wear. There are no seam splits or writing.
The monaural record is also VG+ with a few very light marks, but this record plays perfectly.
All records are visually graded under a strong direct light and any background noise is noted, but in no case does the noise overwhelm the music. Clean and ready to play! Records are sent in special cardboard mailers for maximum protection.
