HORRORCOMIC's incredibly rare double A-side 7 inch single in picture cover, 'Jesus Crisis'/'Cut Your Throat'....B&C Records BCS 18A, 1979.
THIS RAREST of punk singles, one of the Holy Grails of the genre, almost NEVER comes up for sale. In the last two years I have found only two examples sold on the internet - and they fetched an average price of £410 each.
This has sat un-played except for the time I gave it a spin in order to review it in one of the many publications I have written for. How I came by it, I cannot now remember, but an old pal from the record business, 'Waxy' Max Needham used to publicise records for this label and would often send me a stack of sounds.
The cover is virtually pristine, featuring just the odd wrinkle or crease which is inevitable after languishing on a shelf for thirty years, as until recently I had no idea it was so valuable.
The record itself has no evident surface flaws, plays perfectly and would grace any punk collection looking for that one, unobtainable focal point.'Written and sung by God' is etched on to the run-out groove. I wouldn't quite go that far, but it is a powerful, dynamic sound from a band which never gained its due acclaim.
Very few were made at the time, even fewer now exist, and just one or two a YEAR is ever put on the market.
This opportunity to acquire a legendary piece of punk posterity may never recur, so make sure you bid your highest price because once it has gone it is unlikely to re-appear with anything other than a mega-price attached to it.
Don't think about it and regret doing nothing about it - go for it now and be the lucky highest bidder who gets to own a slice of musical history.
