HOWARD McGHEE ALL STARS – BLUE NOTE LP 5012 – EX/EX – 10 INCH – NYC – MONO
This is the first Blue Note session for McGhee and was recorded on January 23, 1950 and joining him are: J.J. Johnson on trombone, Brew Moore on tenor, Kenny Drew on piano, Curley Russell on bass and Max Roach on drums. SIDE 1: MECIENDO; LO-FLAME; FLUID DRIVE and BOPERATION. SIDE 2: I’LL REMEMBER APRIL; FUGUETTA; DONNELLON SQUARE and THE SKUNK. The address on the label is “767 Lexington Ave. N.Y.C.” There’s and “EAR” on both sides on the blank vinyl. There is also “9M” in the blank vinyl on both sides. There are NO “Van Gelder” stamps in the blank vinyl. The address on the record jacket is “767 Lexington Ave., New York 21, N.Y.” This is a 10 inch LP and a MONO recording.
I’ve graded the vinyl and the record jacket as EX for the following reasons. The vinyl has a few surface marks, but none of them interfere play. I listened to it and did not hear any surface noise, except a couple of pops. There is no surface noise that I could hear. There is a stain on the label on both sides of the LP, which you should take into consideration. There is no wear in or around the spindle hole on either side of the LP. The record jacket has some slight wear and a small taped seam on the lower right corner. Otherwise, it’s in excellent condition.
