Description
From the world's number one source for rare and hard to find Arizona desert platters I snagged a copy of the groovy Surf Instro. by WOOLSEY'S RAIDERS titled "War Dance" (1:53) b/w "Devil's Dungeon" (2:05) on the Lewis label #10120, from Mesa, AZ. Recorded at Audio Recorders in Phoenix in 1963. The leader of the band, Tim Woolsey, was killed in an automobile accident shortly after making the record. CONDITION: Vinyl looks VG(+), lots of shine in groove and surface scuffs. Plays better! There is a 1/3' edge crack into the groove, that does not effect "War Dance," but there are 7 light clicks audible on the flip side. Both labels are poor as you can see, but as a friend said, "You don't play the labels." See scan. There are not very many surf Instros. from The Valley Of The Sun and this is one of the best. And now some history...Lewis Records 565 E. Mellit Ave. Mesa, AZ. The record was recorded at Audio Recorders Of Arizona and pressed (300) at Wakefield Manufacturing in Phoenix, in January of 1963, House # sjw 4946.
