Hugo – Hey! Watch Out 7” (orig. Australia Festival MONO FK-3159, DJ BIO INSERT + “SAMPLE RECORD NOT FOR SALE” red bullet sticker)

On offer here is an ULTRA RARE original issue of the only 7” single by Adelaide-based group, HUGO. Both sides of this 45 were written by lead vocalist/drummer TED MARTIN. The A-side of this 45 could very well be one of the FINEST AUSSIE 1960’s GARAGE PUNK TRACKS EVER COMMITTED TO VINYL! Be sure to check out the YouTube links below.

Excerpt from “Tomorrow Is Today: Australia in the psychedelic era, 1966-1970” (Iain McIntyre):
“Hey! Watch Out” is a slightly snarly and rather lascivious garage punker by obscure Adelaide power-trio Hugo, which is all done and dusted in just two minutes and ten seconds. The B-side “Girl in the Garden” is more of the same, with a rather neat fade-in, some cool throbbing bass work, and a tight little drum break in the middle – and it only goes for 1 min 52 secs. Not until the punk era of almost a decade later would pop songs ever be this short again.
