Humble Pie self titled 1970 UK original vinyl album on the A&M label, catalogue number AMLS 986 (stereo)
The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side One: AMLS 986 A1 2 J (all of this is hand etched) Side Two: AMLS 986 B1 1 F (all of this is hand etched)
This is a very heavy vinyl and it is not warped. Side One appears excellent with only a small quantity of light bag lines. Visually Side Two is another matter, it has the same light lines as Side One, but it also has one scratch which goes from the middle of track 1 straight across to the end of track 2 and two other short scratches on the middle of track 2, these three scratches can be felt as well as being visually obvious, but surprisingly they have very little impact on the audio. I listened very carefully to this record all the way through. Side One is excellent, clean, clear and great to listen to, Side Two is similar with just some occasional ticks where the scratches are. I want to be clear the scratches don't look good, but they certainly don't sound bad - most of the time while the stylus passes you would barely know they were there, the whole record sounds brilliant to me. There are no skips, no sticks, no jumps.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. The labels have just a few spindle lines, I don't think this was played very often, no writing, no damage.
No expense has been spared on the gatefold cover which is made from heavy card with a deeply woven texture on the front and back and a sealed finish although it's not coated with a laminate. It shows a little sign of rub wear and discolouration, but it's lasted the course in very good shape. The centre piece looks similar to how it would have been when new.
The texturing also runs along the spine and is slightly grubby, but fully readable, with just a tiny amount of rub wear at each end. I can't imagine there would be many around today that would be better than this.
I think the inner sleeve is original, plain cream, no liner, just a couple of patent numbers and 'Made in Great Britain' - it's very clean and tidy, no splits, no tears.
I've checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say the cover is 'excellent' and for the record, Side One is 'excellent' and, even with the scratches, Side Two is at least 'very good' and possibly better than that.
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a record mailing box (cruciform) with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
