Leftfield musical adventurers Macadam Mambo head to Brussels for this new album, and it's there that Hun Hun, the brotherly duo, have cooked up a debut that blends ethno-shamanic, tribal and cinematic soundscapes into one alluring long player. It's dark, it's deep, it's mysterious, and all the atmospheres and made from layering forest field recordings, haunting vocals and distinctive percussions. Their rhythms echo the energy of late 80s club intros while the production maintains a more contemporary edge. This one could easily have sat alongside Crammed Discs' legendary 1980s releases, yet it doesn't feel like a time capsule. What is it is another delight in the superbly curious Macadam Mambo catalogue.
