Original Stereo Pressing – 1966 Transitional Blue Note

This is a true collector’s piece — a transitional early stereo pressing of Roll Call by Hank Mobley on Blue Note BST 84058. Features the iconic 47 West 63rd NYC address on both labels, RVG STEREO stamped in the runout, however, no "ear" (Plastylite "P") — indicating this was pressed during the brief Liberty transitional period (~1966), using leftover Blue Note label stock but with updated elements like the registered ® logo near Blue Note.

Vinyl: VG+

Plays extremely very well with full fidelity and classic Rudy Van Gelder presence. Visually has some light surface scuffs and sleeve marks, but playback is strong and consistent with zero skips, and little noise. A very solid player copy that leans closer to EX, but conservatively graded.

Labels: 47 West 63rd NYC (both sides) with deep groove.

This pressing is a Division of Liberty reissue circa 1966 after Blue Note was sold to Liberty. This pressing has the 'East Coast' style labels with the album title Roll Call in smaller font than the artist name Hank Mobley below. This differs from this 'West Coast' Liberty label variation Hank Mobley - Roll Call.

Cover: VG+ with minor shelf wear, still very crisp, but some writing/stamps present - please review images. Looks like tape in a corner, but unsure of rationale? Fully intact spine and seams.

This pressing delivers all the sonics of a first press at a more approachable price point (wait till you hear the horns and Art Blakey...) A must-have Mobley title and a top-shelf addition to any serious Blue Note collection. The record has been cleaned using ultrasonic technology and is in strong VG+ condition, with trivial surface scuffs and hairlines. The cover is very nice and crisp, only a VG+ because of age!

NM (Near Mint):

Vinyl: Nearly flawless, with possible minor scuffs or hairlines only visible under strong light.
Sleeve: Appears new, as if freshly printed.

EX (Excellent):

Vinyl: Bright, with minor surface wear and hairlines, not affecting play.

Sleeve: May have faint creases or abrasions, but artwork is clean.

VG+ (Very Good Plus):

Vinyl: Obvious wear, scuffs and hairlines, plays with some noise but no major sound issues.

Sleeve: Worn with creases, noticeable wear, acid deterioration, corner dings, chipping, and possible seam wear.

VG (Very Good):

Vinyl: Dull appearance with many hairlines and scuffs, somehow plays with persistent noise but no skips. 

Sleeve: Worn with possible seam splits and moderate ring wear.

G+ (Good Plus):

Vinyl: Numerous marks and scratches, plays with significant noise but music usually overpowers flaws.

Sleeve: Rough appearance with possible seam splits and water damage.

G (Good):

Vinyl: Copious unforgettable marks, probably a skip or jump.

Sleeve: Heavy ring wear and damage, likely large seam splits or water damage.

F (Fair):

Vinyl: It's round with nearly infinite damage, skipper gonna skip

Sleeve: It's basically what's left of the sleeve for the album
