Hank Mobley on Blue Note 1540

 

This is the original deep-groove RVG-etched “P”-pressing of Hank Mobley “Sextet” on the Lexington Avenue labels of Blue Note BLP 1540.  The flat rim playing surface is in excellent condition, with a nice luster; a single inaudible scuff on Side 1; inaudible normal storage splotching on Side 2.  The coated frame Lexington Avenue cover is bright and clean throughout; ½” split on the bottom seam, at the opening; previous owner’s name written at the upper left corner of the back slick. Personnel include Donald Byrd, Lee Morgan, Horace Silver, Paul Chambers, and Charlie Persip.
