Description
This is the original deep-groove RVG-stamped “P”-pressing of Hank Mobley “Sextet” on the West 63rd (no “INC”) labels of Blue Note BLP 1560. Other than a single light inaudible scuff on Side 1, the playing surface is in near-new condition, with a high luster; perhaps played once. Similarly, the laminated West 63rd cover is in exceptional condition – bright and clean throughout – with just a ¾” repair to lamination lifting at the top seam, near the spine. Both labels and the upper right corner of the back slick are stamped “FOR PROMOTION”. Personnel include Donald Byrd, John Jenkins, Bobby Timmons, Wilbur Ware, and Philly Joe Jones.
