Description
Absolutely beautiful 1500 series Blue Note quintessential late 50s Hard-Bop session headed by Hank Mobley with double-attack trumpet section of Lee Morgan and Donald Byrd both blowing hot and fast... it doesn't get much better!
Very first press from 1957 with Lexington Ave labels and Deep-Groove both sides, RVG, 'Ear' (P for Plastylite) and 9M inscribed in run-out grooves... Definite first press. Address on back cover: 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21. All details can be seen in pics. Pics hopefully show condition of cover and record well but feel free to ask for any other info.
Cover: VG+ In superb shape especially for its age obviously been looked after over the 60 odd years. Things to point out are little bits of wear at corners and some slight creasing in top right corner on front. Spine and edges are pretty sharp. On back cover there is some light handwriting in a pink pen (see pics) other than that excellent on back. Vinyl: VG+/EX A few very light scuff type marks that are non-feelable on both sides when held to light that don't affect play. I've carefully listened through the whole album and it Plays clear and strong throughout, no skips, no sticks, no jumps, no loud clicks, in some odd places very light static surface noise but not very noticeable at all. Have tried to be conservative with grading and mention any little defects, this is certainly a fantastic copy of a tough to find album that a collector would be very happy with.
Happy to answer any further questions. Can post overseas please contact me if you want an aprox p&p quote if you wish before auction end.
