Up for auction is a copy of Sterling #204 78 RPM Single of Hank Williams second Sterling pressing WEALTH WON'T SAVE YOUR SOUL / WHEN GOD COMES AND FATHERS HIS JEWELS. Both sides credit Williams as Singer and Writer. As far as I can find out this recording was made in 1946 at the Sterling Studio in New York. I am far from an expert on grading these records but based on a web site I found the record seems to grade G+. I played the record on my Panasonic belt drive turntable which has a tracking weight of about 1/2 ounce and it played with no skips in the music on either side. There is surface noise throughout and a few clicks and pops but no skips. I had to play it at 45 RPM because my turntable doesn't have a 78 speed so the sound was distorted but the music is there with no skips in the music. On the WEALTH side the record will not enter the run-out groove after the music stops. There is one small chip on the edge with a crack running about and inch toward the center from the chip. I'm pretty good at packing fragile items so this very fragile record will not be broken in shipping. However, I will require insurance so don't pay for the item before I send an invoice which will include insurance cost.
