Description
Please read this listing carefully!
For your consideration, TWO ultra rare Harry Partch items.
First, a copy of the very first edition on the "Harry Partch Trust Fund" of Partch's 1954 recording of "Oedipus" on his own Gate 5 label. This is SIGNED by the composer and numbered - no. 197 of 240 copies ever pressed! This is a 2-LP (double) set of 12-inch red vinylite records (microgroove, 33 rpm), not the later single LP editions from 1957 and 1962. Part of an estate sale.
The sleeve is not an actual gatefold, but rather what looks like two pieces of cardboard taped together. This is how the album was originally released, as it would have been put together and mailed out by Partch himself. There are numerous bits of tape along the edges, but this is how it is. Sleeve looks pretty good to me. I have never seen another of these in the flesh, but googling it this seems par for the course. Please check out all the photos.
The records look really good for being nearly 70 years old, I don't think they have been played much. I've tried to take the best photos I can. I'm not a collector or vinyl dealer so I'm going with what I can see.
I have the original (I presume) plastic inner sleeves but they seemed very flimsy, so I got brand new archival sleeves as seen. The original sleeves will be included!
Secondly, also included is an original announcement poster of sorts (A4) of production of King Oedipus at Mills College in March 1952. A super rare document too.
Payment by Paypal please. I will ship internationally and I pack well. Any questions please ask. I have got another Partch rare set of records coming as soon as I have some time to deal with them. Please don't bid if you don't intend to buy :) Thanks for looking!
