Description
Harsh Reality - 'Heaven & Hell' UK Philips SBL 7891, Stereo, 1969.
An original, but somewhat flawed copy, of this major UK Prog rarity from 1969. An amazing combination of Eric Clapton/Peter Green style blues guitar & vocals, with bluesy organ, and avant-garde sections in the style of The Mothers Of Invention, and even Gong! The LP plays extremely well, and the serious-looking mark across side 2, probably caused by a clumsy person dragging a long fingernail across it's surface, when lifting it off the turntable, has hardly any effect on the sound! I've shown a clear photo of this, which probably makes it look worse than it really is, but it's better not to hide anything. Amazingly, this mark is barely audible when played, and the very few clicks and pops that do occur are not all from this! I tested the LP all the way through, on a very good system, with both elliptical, and conical stylus's, and the sound quality was excellent and dynamic, with a small amount of crackle, but no distortion. If one can overlook the obvious flaws, this is still by far the best way to listen to this classic recording, and the sound itself shouldn't disappoint.
A great opportunity to own an original UK Prog masterpiece, at a fraction of the cost of the highest priced examples!
